Sunday, Sept. 3

St. Mary, High Hill, Parish Picnic

St. Mary Catholic Church, High Hill, will celebrate its 163rd year at the annual parish picnic on Sunday, Sept. 3. A flag-raising at 9:30 a.m. will be followed by a polka Mass at 10:15 a.m. A fried chicken/stew dinner with trimmings will be served starting at 11 a.m. for $13 per plate, with drive-thru plates available (drive-thru entrance is from FM 2672 northbound only).

The auction will begin at 1 p.m. featuring livestock, quilts, homemade items, plants, etc. Music will be by Texas Sound Czech and Mark Halata/ Texavia during the day, with a free dance at night by David Lewis The cake walk will open at 11 a.m. Corn hole will start at 1 p.m.

Other activities will include a country store, duck pond, ring toss, train ride, souvenir booth, bounce house, etc. Hamburgers, nachos, High Hill sausage, etc. will be available.

Now, Worthington breathes fresh life to dance halls, beer joints, and ballrooms from Texas to Tennessee with his just released 13-song, self-penned debut album, Jake Worthington. Captivating the masses with his honky-tonk stylings, the singer-songwriter has already started bringing two-step anthems to venues across the country, opening for Cody Johnson, Riley Green, Pat Green, Hank Williams Jr., ERNEST, and more!

Happy Tails benefitting Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter @ Freyburg Hall

The 2023 Happy Tails fundraiser benefitting the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter will be held at Freyburg Hall on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 6 to 10 p.m.

Entertainment will be provided by Texas Unlimited Band. There will be dinner, dancing and silent/live auctions. To purchase tickets by cash or check, contact Lisa Slinkard at the Gardenia E. With the release of his 2020 debut EP Here We Go Again, Slade quickly began garnering a large following of fans throughout the state. Between his high energy live shows, impactful lyrics, and one of a kind voice… Slade Coulter is quickly becoming a household name among Country and Americana Music.

October 2023 Schulenburg Texas Events

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4 , 2023 4:30 - 6:00 PM

Schulenburg VFD Auxiliary Hamburger Steak Dinner

The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will serve a takehome-only hamburger steak dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the KC Hall.

The plates ($12 each) will include hamburger steak with brown gravy, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, corn casserole, roll and cookie.

Tickets are available from Holly Czimskey (979-561- 6018), Sandy Kusy (512-994-9181), Grahmann’s True Value, Schulenburg Printing, Tillie’s Cafe, or any SVFD Auxiliary member or SVFD firefighter.
